Born and raised in Kenya, Samwel's dreams of growing up were to attain the highest possible level of education in areas of social sciences. While intrigued by and wanting to learn how computers worked, he unfortunately did not have access to a computer to even start with. As a matter of fact, owning a computer was a privilege held only by the elite and the elite schools! In light of this, Samwel had to carefully choose his area of study from a very early age. Samwel saw himself as a social scientist/economist. He can attribute his leaning towards being a social scientist/economist due to the influence of studying World History and studying statesman like Winston Churchill and Napoleon Bonaparte. Not knowing what the future held for him, Samwel moved to the United States to pursue his studies.

Immediately after settling in the U.S., Samwel landed a job as a computer assembler at an IBM plant in Research Triangle Park. As you can imagine, he was thrilled to have that first hand experience in not only assembling, but also testing the same computers that were elusive to him back in Kenya. It was here that his curiosity and passion for computers increased tremendously to the point that Samwel had to shift his major from Social Sciences to Networking Technology. After college, Samwel relocated to Southern California. In an effort to sharpen his skills and keep up with the ever-changing technology, he enrolled in a vocational college and studied MCSE and Cisco. Immediately after completing the program, Samwel was hired by D-Link Systems, Inc. as a technical support technician.

It was here at D-Link that Samwel got the real-world experience working with networking equipment. He has learned about several of the products out in the market that are manufactured by D-Link ranging from home-based products to SMB and Enterprise products. VoIP products, multimedia products, routers, switches, firewalls and storage devices are among the products that Samwel deals with on a daily basis. He admits that he has always been faced with challenges, but he believes that it is through these challenges that we can harness our full potential. Challenges, as Churchill once said, should be looked upon as source of new opportunities. And to Samwel those opportunities have been a tremendous gift in taking his computer and networking knowledge to a higher level.

Working at D-Link has not only given Samwel the practical experience in a work place, but also a chance to learn and keep pace with the ever-changing cutting edge technology in computers and networks.
